Help Your Husband Be The Leader God Intended Him To Be

Help Your Husband Be The Leader God Intended Him To Be
During an argument my husband and I had last week, he mentioned that all I've been doing is nagging him. And he followed that statement by saying that he felt that he can't do anything right in my eyes. Well, talk about a big blow to my wifely-hood. It was never my intentions to make my hubby feel inadequate in his role as the leader in our family. He on the other hand felt disrespected and insulted.

After spending some time reading the Bible, I realized that my words and actions weren't exactly the mirroring image of a Godly woman. I've posted some Bible Verses that I've found helpful. For this blog post I also decided to asked several Christian men how a wife can help her husband be the leader in the home. Their insight was eye opening for me and maybe it will hit a chord with you as well. Listed below are their the top 10 answers.

  1. No constant nagging or complaining.
  2. Don't dismiss his need for physical intimacy.
  3. Respect his opinions and decisions.
  4. Don't talk or complain about his flaws to others.
  5. Communicate gratitude and praise him for his accomplishments, leadership, and hard work.
  6. Encourage his ideas and goals.
  7. Forgive his mistakes.
  8. Pray with him and for him.
  9. Humbly submit.
  10. Get rid of unrealistic expectations!
None of us are perfect, but we can strive to be the best and seek to follow God's plan for our lives. I love feedback, so please feel free to leave any thoughts or comments. God bless and have a wonderful day!

Scripture References:

Ephesians 5:21-24 (NIV)
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Proverbs 31:10-12 (ESV)
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

1 Peter 3:1(NIRV)
Wives, follow the lead of your own husbands. Suppose some of them don’t believe God’s word. Then let them be won to Christ without words by seeing how their wives behave.

Proverbs 21:19 (ESV)
It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman.

Genesis 2:18 (ESV)
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Ephesians 5:33 (ESV)
However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Romans 3:23-24(ESV)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
